Hi! My name is Megan. I was diagnosed with Central Auditory Processing Disorder a couple years ago. It is a disorder that causes my brain to work slower than other people my age. I have made a lot of progress since I was told what was wrong with me and who to go to for help. I am almost caught up with my class. There are many different things that a person with CAPD can do to help them deal with their disorder. My family and I decided that the best thing for me is to work with the speech teacher at school and to work with a computer program called Fast Forward. Both the teacher and the computer games have helped me to improve in my schoolwork. I am doing good now but my family and I went through a rough time before I was told what was wrong with me. I wrote a poem about what that time was like and what we went through. I am going to share it with you. I hope you like it. Here it is. The Worst is Over. You think that I'm stupid, I deserve to be happy, It's been a long battle, I ignore what you say. I’m just a girl. I have a speech teacher at school, It took a while Some thought I was lazy, I met all sorts of people, The pills didn’t help We met a new doctor They gave me more tests. Everyone was helpful, Now, with a new disorder, Many people are helping me. *This is a fictitious character and poem. I worked really hard to try to sound like a 12-year-old child. I really hope that you all like it. Please leave a comment or email me if you have any suggestions for my poem. Proceed to Genre 3 Back to Homepage
