VAL's Webliography

Hello Everyone. Welcome to my first Webliography. I hope that you enjoy it.

PERSONAL INTERESTS
Sadly, my favorite thing to do is eat. But, as much as I love food (And it shows:), I did not want to provide you with a bunch of links to my favorite foods. Instead, I thought I would tell you some of my other interests. I love MOVIES!! Movies just give you such an emotional rush. I go to the movie theatre as much as I can. And when I'm not there, I usually rent a movie at my local video rental. You can tell that I'm a lazy person because I also enjoy the t.v. show "Friends." Joey, Chandler, Ross, Monica, Rachel and Phoebe can always put a smile on my face, no matter how I'm feeling. Another thing that I really enjoy is visiting ebay. I never ever ever buy anything but I love to look. It kind of feels like I use it for a personal wish list. If I want something that I know that I am not going to get, I look and lust over it on ebay. I especially love the jewelry and antique furniture categories.

DISCIPLINE
I am a senior in college and will graduate from Marshall University next May. Wow! That sounds so great. I transferred to Marshall when I was beginning to get overwhelmed by my own performance in school. The staff and faculty provided me with information, comfort, and assurance. Click on the Marshall University link above to find information on professional programs, organizations, financial aid, housing, and more available at Marshall. My major is Communication Disorders (CD). This link will give you information about the Marshall's undergraduate and graduate CD programs. It will also give you information about the program policies. Here, you can also find information about the CD teachers. It even offers a tour of the facility. After I graduate from the undergrad. and graduate programs, I will be a speech pathologist. A speech pathologist is a therapist who works will people who have communication disorders. To me, the most appealing option about this career is the options available. You can work with children or adults, and you can work in a school system or in a health care setting. Also, the job involves helping people who are unable to help themselves which will be so rewarding...one of these days. To find out more about the career of a speech pathologist, visit ASHA. This is the organization most associated with the career. Here, you can find out about scholarships, specific disorders, chapters of the organization, and more. You can even take a look at some frequently asked questions. Maybe you're questions will be answered there. For the viewers who are already in the field of speech pathology, I have some sites that may be of interest to you. Here is where you can go to find information about the various links provided for speech pathologists. The creator of this page is a speech pathologist and she offers a variety of links that pertain to information sources, contacting other professionals, and therapy techniques. Another place to visit is Rehabworld. This site provides the speech pathologist with job listings, resource information, and where to go to get the supplies that you need for your clinic.

RESEARCH
As amazed as I will be if this webliography turns out, it was not created for fun. I am currently enrolled in CD 315. This is a communication disorders class that focuses on teaching information and Internet literacy. But the neat thing is that it uses CD content as the basis for all research and projects. Therefore, we are learning two things at once. We have a large project due at the end of the semester that requires searching for answers to our created research question. I have chosen the question, "What are the reprecussions of a misdiagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder for Central Auditory Processing Disorder?" I chose this topic because Central Auditory Processing Disorders (CAPD) are very interesting to me and I wanted to find out more about them. You can learn about CAPD with me by clicking on the link. This site gives basic information about CAPD. It gives information about what the disorder is. It also provides symptoms that someone with CAPD might have. In addition, the site provides information about how CAPD is diagnosed and gives recommendations for someone with CAPD. Central Auditory Processing Disorder is a relatively few area of study in the world of Communication Disorders. In the past few years, there has been a lot of contraversy and appeal surrounding this disorder. The symptoms of CAPD are very similar to those of another disorder called Attention Deficit Disorder, which leads to the misdiagnosis of ADD for CAPD. Although the symptoms are similiar, the disorders are very different. The therapy given to help rehabiliate one of these disorders will not be sufficient for the other. Not only do I need to learn about CAPD, I need to learn about Attention Deficit Disorders (ADD) as well. To learn about ADD , click the link. Here, you will receive a brief description of the disorder. You can also see an example of how a child with ADD might act at the different stages of their development. Diagnosis information, treatment plans available, and answers to various questions can be found here.

FUN
I am not a all familiar with the different types of fun things that are available on the Internet. I really don't do anything on the Internet except check email and visit ebay, which I mentioned earlier. But I managed to find a couple of sites that you may enjoy. You could read your daily Horoscope. I do not check my horoscope everyday, but I do it quite frequently. I like to see how my day goes before I look at my horoscope. I know that is in the reverse order as usual, but I like to see how accurate it is after my day is over. You may like to play GAMES. I have never ever played a game on the internet, but it could be lots of fun. There are tons of games available here. I may not play games on the Internet but I play a handheld game of solitaire all the time. I am addicted to it. Anytime that I talk on the phone or watch television, I play it. I hope that you all enjoy the games.

I hope you enjoyed my first weblog as much as I enjoyed making it!
